    • Building a stable computer!

    • Series of simple and easy step to follow to build a stable computer!  Worth to read for the one who wanted to reduce the IT costs or improving the stability of their computer.

  • Wednesday, September 24th 2008, Announcement:

    • Watch your food!  These days the melamine (plastic that used to create dinning plate) contaminated milk are spreading throughout world.  Those milk might be found in dairy food, ice cream and more well known food products.  FYI, they mainly come from China, very embarrassing considering I'm also a Chinese descendent.  Please open this site, Indonesia's leading newspaper for more information on this matter.

  • Friday, September 19th 2008,

    • I've been using my laptop - a cheap Hasee (神舟电脑) Q300 bought in XuJiaHui, Shanghai - since September 2006.  This month is my 2nd year anniversary of using this computer almost 8 hours everyday.  I use this Hasee heavily to write softwares, picture editing, web designing and including writing this website.  This computer now running Windows XP SP 3 and I've never had any problem with this computer or Windows.

    • The only thing that made me reinstall Windows on this computer was for converting from Chinese Windows to English Windows, and that happens on the same day after I bring the computer back home.  That's it, and until today it works perfectly as new when I bought it.  Even the battery, although used everyday still fine for 1 hours per charge, which is the same when I got it new.

    • While my desktop computer is now 6 years old and still working perfectly.  It is a Pentium 4 machine bought back in July 2002 in DV Computer, Australia.  It was last upgraded 2 times, 1st upgrade to add sound card and TV card occurs in December 2002, then the 2nd upgrade occurs in 2004 to give a larger hard drive and more rams.  Until today its never been hardware upgraded or reformatted.

    • The Pentium 4 machine still works perfectly as new, albeit low in hard disk space and functions as the data centre for my printing company.

    • I still can't figure out why so many people had trouble with Windows and their computer, while I - starting with Windows 2000 - never had any problem with them.

    • This website and other two websites that I master was almost closed today!  The billing failed was failed few weeks ago and I did not notice that until 5 days ago.  Tomorrow is the latest date before my hosting is cancelled.  That is due to my card is about to expire this time, and the replacement card is still in Australia waiting for me!  I'm thinking to get an Indonesian card this time.

    • The world stock market is crashed again!  This is the chance to get some discounted stock for your investment.  I don't know what will happens after this crash, since there is a chance that the stock market will tumble even deeper, or it might be rebound to a peak.  Choose your own stock carefully by analysing its fundamental.  Another tips for analysing a company's fundamental: make sure the company's auditor is a well trusted auditor.

    • My stock portfolio is the same, it crashed!  I think that's quite ok, since I got a pretty good company's stock.  Hopefully the price will recover soon since I'm about to streamline my portfolio and to switch to stock from a more solid company.  Remember, I've never recommend people to get what stock and I will never make any recommendation of what stock to get.

    • This is a stock that currently undervalued compared to a normal printed paper: I own a printing company which serves corporate customers.  I've seen some stock such as IATA, FREN, MYRX, BCIC, CNKO, INPC, BNBA, VRNA that on today's price costs cheaper than a printed HVS 80gsm paper!

    • My collection of photo tips, although it is only effective for less experienced photographer.  Pros are welcome to read!

  • Friday-Saturday, September 5-6th 2008,

    • The local Toyota dealer was kind enough to lend me their 2009 Toyota Corolla - better known in Indonesia as All New Corolla Altis - for an extended 2 (correction) days test drive.  My first impression of this car is beautiful, ergonomics, smooth and quiet.  Please read my now finished reviews here.

  • Tuesday, September 2nd 2008, Announcement

    • Uploaded few pictures in my misc gallery.  You'll find that not all of the pictures are nice, but some of them are surely weird!

    • I'm working on an article choosing the best tools for photographing in the dark.

  • Thursday, August 28th 2008, Announcement

    • All of my investment writings should be comment enabled by now.  Please check it yourself.

  • Sunday, August 24th 2008,

    • Stock market shock - comment enabled!

    • Stock price often related directly to a multi national and global event.  A global shock could increase the stock price 2-3 folds or even tumbles the stock price.  Most current global shock, the subprime mortgage crisis's effect is still here and could stay for another few months or even years.  This article will not explain on what causes the stock market shock.  Me also can't find the what causes.  But this article will explain how to avoid the shock.

  • Tuesday, August 19th 2008, Announcement

    • I've done writing commenting engine.  Now beta testing in this site.  My software is always in beta stage anyway :P

    • It is ridiculous that it took me almost a week to find a free commenting script on the internet, while I can write a functional beta writing script in less than 24 hours.

    • My engine works as an wrapper to a html file.  So a html link that point to a file will now point to my pho wrapper.  Then the PHP is the one who will pass the article to the browser.  Common photo tips for avoiding common mistakes is the example link.  Although it far from perfect, at least I can put it there to make a comment.  Now I'm currently working on administrator page to make a delete comments page and censor comments page.

  • Sunday, August 17th 2008, Announcement

    • Today is Indonesia's Independence day.

    • Merdeka is the Indonesian of Independence.  And even the sales promotion girl today wearing traditional cloths.  I managed to ask them to be pictured however, not all of them.  Here I can show you those girl are wearing kebaya, although it has been heavily modernised, it is still a kebaya that reflecting Indonesian culture.

    • Kebaya is the traditional cloth from Jawa Tengah.  Actually there are more of them that wears traditional cloths from different area, but I could not capture.

      • kebaya girl

    • They are student of a private university in Jogja.  I gave two thumbs up for them, they are helping their parents in paying their living cost in Jogja by working as SPG.  All the best for them!  Hope their study will be finished soon with all good marks.

    • Sorry for the vibration, at that time I use a borrowed PS camera, therefore the picture quality is not optimal.  Feel free to click the picture which will open a link.

    • I've decided to write my own commenting engine.  Hopefully it will be ready ASAP, and then when its ready, I hope I can make it freely available for user who wanted to put comments on their site!

  • Saturday, August 16th 2008, Announcement:

    • I've done partial change of advertisement provider on my website to Amazon.  That is due to Google's Ad sense for referral will be discontinued on the last week of August.  Although I'm not intending this site to be an advertisement powered site, it always nice to have an ads placed on my page.  That is, I can earn good money from them.

    • My cousin sister, Ellensi champed National Olympic in Computer.  She's a genius!  Please open this link, and then choose OSN SMA for the proof!

  • Tuesday, August 12th 2008,

    • Preparing an image crop for presentation

    • Sometimes less experienced photographer had a very nice image, but then when they plan to view it on screen the image could not fit the entire screen.  After cropping it become not nice anymore due to unideal composition.  Moreover sometimes improper cropping results in printed image that looks bad due to jagged lines and artefacts.

  • Monday, August 11th 2008,

    • I've just bought a new tripod.  Its the 2nd cheapest tripod on the market that costs around USD 20.

    • Last week was a very busy week...  I've visited many cities to visit my customer, then attending business meeting there.  I still have no conclusion on what will happens, hopefully everything will go smoothly.

    • Anyway I've used airline to travel in Indonesia.  Call me brave if you like, but travelling using Garuda Indonesia is save, compared to other airline here and on other country that had 3 incident in one straight week.

    • One funny thing that I learnt from the airport is fuel surcharge.  E.g. the airline ticket is Rp 400.000,00 and that excludes the fuel surcharge which is Rp 150.000,00.  Totalling Rp 550.000,00 and it means that you should pay yourself the fuel costs.

    • Moreover, some airliner give away the ticket, but make huge charges on the fuel surcharge.  This is ridiculous!  To make it fun, I decide to ask the ticket dealer what kind of fuel that the airplane use.  Then I asked her can I bring my own fuel?  Since it is free to fly, just need to pay for the fuel.  If I can BYO my fuel, would that be great?

    • On Sunday we've sent our deceased and beloved grandmother a house.  I won't share the picture here, since it would be impolite.  We are still follow those Chinese tradition to respect the deceased.  And I think it is good!

    • An old water pump, very old that even their joint are about to break.  It is wrapped with plastic string to keep it intact.  I think only a weirdo took this picture :P

      • Old water pump

      • Sorry for the slight change in colour.  That is due to I use automatic white balance ^^

    • My friends picture, on my girlfriend's farewell party.  These are taken at studio.  Some features my picture.  Just guess which one is me!

    • Another sales promotion girl picture.  Her face represents what is a true original Javanese beauty.  I actually saw some other SPG's picture and they are all beautiful, however I have no more space left on my CF :'(

    • All of the SPG's are beautiful, the reason why do I choose her because the others are hybrid girl, not one with a traditional face which is pretty rare.  There are many tribes in Indonesia, and most people you've met on the street are hybrid between those tribes.

    • My old friend Hendy just contacted me.  You can see his name on my cbox there.  I've added his URL on my links page :)  Thanks Hendy for remembering me!

  • Friday, August 1st 2008,

    • It has been a while since I last update my website.  That is due to my internet connection that is down or at least useless.

    • Anyway I've put an article about investment:

    • Unnecessary expenses on stock trading

    • It is common that people waste their money unnecessarily while trading. The transaction style is overly active therefore introduces overhead and useless in real trading. Most of those strategies are learnt from word of mouth and has no proof of correctness.

  • Saturday, July 26th 2008, Announcement

    • I'm currently facing problem in accessing internet and uploading my files here.  When I upload my files, I always received an error saying the file can't be upload.

    • Then I can't open some website including but not limited to www.kenrockwell.com, www.blogcatalog.com, www.entrecard.com and many more.  While the other popular site such as Yahoo and Google are fine.  Lets hope that the internet connection will be better soon enough.

  • Thursday, July 24th 2008,

    • When I was on a business trip yesterday, I've made some discovery about photography.

    • Photographing behind dirty screen

    • Sometimes photographer were facing situation where he or she was behind a dirty glass screen without a way to pass it.  Dirty screen is photographer's nightmare.  My trick here will help to defeat dirty screen!  Although not all dirty screen can be defeated, this trick somehow will help to hide the dirt.

    • I'm having problem on classifying image for my gallery.  Should it enter architecture because it is an architecture that is man built, or landscape, since it made Indonesia's landscape ugly.  But at least it helps us to power the country.

      • sutet

    • Anyway if I wait for around 1 hours, I'll get a much more beautiful picture.  That is because the sky will turn orange.  What a pity I don't have that luxury, since it was on my business trip with my fellow office worker.

    • I still have picture of clouds lit by sunset light.  Very beautiful, but I'll share that next time when I've finished editing them!

  • Tuesday, July 22nd 2008,

    • I fulfil my promise here, writing article about flash freeze and 2nd curtain sync.

    • Using flash to freeze action and 2nd curtain sync

    • In order to preserve the ambient light, the camera will use long shutter time.  In action where subject moves, the subject will off course be blurry and invisible.  On this aspect is where the flash come to help.

  • Monday, July 21st 2008,

    • Announcement

    • It has been two days I can't open my any internet website.  All I could open is Yahoo's main page, Friendster, Google, Live and other useless page.  Why do I say useless?  Because all I could open is their home page.  Other page results in Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

    • The funny thing is I can ping to my site.  So sorry for the late update.  The article below was intended to be online on Saturday 19th 2008.

    • Stock retaining decision

    • I retain my stock BUMI which I bought for average price of 5967.  Soon after I bought the stock, the price raises to 8600.  I did not sell it when the price tops at 8600 instead I retain it.  Nowdays the price drops back to 5900.  I could have made a huge profit if I sell it at 8600.  This has made people wondered about my retaining stocks decision.

  • Thursday, July 17th 2008, Announcement: update on grammar and website formatting

    • Some of the reader told me that I need to fix the grammar used on this site.  I admit that sometime I write using quite a messy and hard to read grammar.  I've fixed my articles, photo tips, car review and my current index page, which mean major rewrite of this site.  Hopefully this will bring more pleasant visit experience for the reader.

    • On the future I'll put the article title and a summary of the article on the index page to reduce loading time.  Clicking the article title will link to the complete article.

    • Exception is made for announcement which I'll put with the same format as before.

    • Added chat box on my site.  I hope visitors will love it.

  • Tuesday, 15th July 2008: Announcement

    • Thanks to Henry, who help me with RSS.  Now website uses RSS.  He is also the one who put Cong Lik pictures on my Waroeng Semawis album.

  • Monday, 14th July 2008,

    • Photo tips 1 for less experienced photographer

    • The photo session on Saturday and Sunday was an entirely new experience for me.  It was my first time to work in a directed photo session.  Moreover I've never done an extensive night and day time shooting.  In total I get more than 400 pictures with 2GB worth of file in just two days.  The photo session really exhaust my photography skills and from there I've learn some new tricks that might be useful for you.  I admit that my skills were far from perfect, and I'm just trying share what I've just learnt.

    • Waroeng Semawis

    • On Saturday night I've visited Waroeng Semawis at Jl. Gang Warung 63 Semarang to do a photo session. Waroeng Semawis is a street mall in Semarang that is open at night as an eating place. It is a bustling place where you can find a lots of good food there, which most of them are meat that I couldn't eat.

    • Candi Gedong Songo

    • Candi Gedong Songo is a temple complex that consisted of 9 temples.  The name suggests that it has nine buildings (gedong = building, and songo = nine) . The temple complex is one huge complex.  To visit the temple complex I have to first drive to the complex entrance, which is located on a mountain.  The location is very beautiful, climate there is cold and the air pressure quite low.  To make it better, there is also a hot water spring on the complex where you can bath.

    • To visit all the 9 temple I have to walk hiking the mountain for about 3 hours.  I did not recommend elderly to visit this temple on foot, since the walk is steep and very tiring.  For elderly, I recommend to ride a horse instead.

    • This is the first time I entered the temple complex.  My intention is to survey for my next photo assignment.  I've never know that it could take very long time to visit all the 9 temples.  Since I only had 1/2 hours, therefore I only could hike to temple 2 and going back to visit my client.

    • For the pictures, I could only took tree, tree formation and temple 2.  The temple picture will be housed on my architecture Gedong Songo gallery.  While my tree formations are in my landscape gallery.  Anyway I got two funny tree picture there, they are not just funny, but also strange!  Please see it yourself!

      • superpine

    • The landscape there is also nice, so I decided to preserve them on a picture.  I use twilight picture style to boost greens and then edit the sky and fog colour to natural bluish, instead of purplish.

      • way to top

  • Friday, 11th July 2008,

    • Dear visitors, this is just a small announcement, sometimes my website is down due to the sluggishness of my internet connection, Telkomsel Flash.  This happens when I upload file then my internet is down, then the file can't be uploaded correctly.  This creates an error on my site.  Please forgive me for this.

    • Reason of using SLR camera

    • The SLR shows its superiority over the compact.  What the compact capture is the candle is out and blown.  This happens due the LCD lags, so when the LCD shows the boy is inhaling about to blow, actually the the boy already begins to blow.

  • Sunday, 6th July 2008,

    • I just arrived from Surabaya after attending one of my few good friend's wedding party.  She looks unexpectedly gorgeous on her wedding day.  Anyway that day I slept on my uncle's house and I saw his 1980s Mercedes-Benz 280, or called Mercy Tiger.  I love that car when I was a kid, and looking at that car brings back a lot of memories.  I used to own one of the miniature version (or kid's version) of that car.

    • My fathers had given me the miniature as a birthday present.  I forget which birth day, but I'm sure it was before I was 6.  As I could remember, it was on a very late night he had given me.  The colour was sky blue and it moved pushing its paddles.  I love that car very much.  After the car's paint become oxidised I decided to paint it black.  However that car leaves a scar on my right knee, which I won't regret, because that reminds me how much my parents loves me.

    • Back to 2008, the 280 is Red and still in immaculate condition.  That is what I called as a real Mercedes, the 280's style are classic and eternal.  From the first time I saw it's kind back in 1980's and until today, it still fascinates me.  Unlike today's C-class which won't make you hold your breath and easy to forgot.

    • Then an update on my investment & photography page, just new formats.  This site is new and still finding the best format, so expect a lot of changes.

    • It has almost a month since I change my ISP to Telkomsel Flash.  It just the name that is flash, but actually it is turtle.  I reckon that the speed is near to dial up.  I hate it, Indosat's IM2 is much better and faster, only much more expensive.  Flash from a cheapo ISP also gives cheapo services.  To give more frustration, most of the time the page can't even load!

  • Thursday, 3rd July 2008,

    • On the 1st of July 2008, I've visited Cheng Ho's Temple Complex in Semarang called Sam Poo Kong (三保空).  The temple has a usual Chinese architecture, however the colouring accent is green instead of the usual yellow.  This indicates that this temple is a Muslim temple, or a Mosque.

    • Chinese Architecture mosque is a pretty rare in Indonesia.  As usual, my EOS 400 D accompany me and I took lots of picture.  At that time the sun was setting behind the temple, and I was trapped between the bright sky with setting sun and the temple's darker front.  I could not get a well balanced exposure unless I use flash.

    • Since the temple is big, then I decided to use high ISO to virtually increase my flash range.  It works at the expense of high noise, however.  Only few of my pictures are nice, and my camera battery dies before I could finish my photo session.  Using flash causes the camera battery to finish very quickly.  As usual, clicking the picture will bring you to my gallery, so click it and enjoy the pictures!
